About GlySta Studio
GlySta Studio is a fibre-object and slow-making studio based in Caerphilly, Wales. Working primarily through crochet and textile construction, the studio creates sculptural vessels, suspended forms, motifs and tactile domestic objects shaped slowly by hand.
Rooted in quiet process and material exploration, the work focuses on texture, rhythm, repetition and form — using stitch not simply as decoration, but as a method of construction. Soft structures are built gradually through tension, layering and directional movement, allowing each piece to develop its own physical presence.
Studio Approach
The studio centres on calm, intentional making. Influenced by geological forms, soft architecture and contemporary fibre art, the work leans toward restrained palettes, sculptural silhouettes and surfaces that invite touch and interpretation.
Some works remain functional, while others move closer to textile sculpture and experimental object design. Collections often evolve through repeated forms and subtle variations rather than singular standalone pieces.
Materials & Process
Every object, motif and hanging form is handmade in the studio using carefully selected fibre materials chosen for structure, softness and surface quality.
The process is intentionally slow and tactile — allowing shaping, tension and stitch rhythm to guide the final form naturally over time. Variations between pieces are considered part of the handmade character of the work.
Alongside finished objects, the studio occasionally releases tutorials, kits and process studies that invite others into the making experience.
About the Maker
GlySta Studio is run by Stan in Caerphilly, Wales. His practice combines crochet, motif design and soft sculptural construction, guided by an interest in ambiguity, stillness and quiet storytelling through material form.
Each piece is created slowly and intentionally, with the hope that it brings a sense of calm, curiosity or connection to the spaces it inhabits.
